Sometimes an author spends his working life doing what he has been trained to do and doing it well, but something else can be on his mind, and it can turn into a book - or two.

Science manager & lecturer retires and writes books

A big change of subject

After a busy life in science managment David Johns retired and he and his wife, Jenny, had a lot more time for 3 children and six grandchildren. But something else was bugging him and David had the feeling it was meant to be a book.

He approached BriarsBooks.

Like many authors, he knew what he wanted to say but he was a man used to producing reports and policy papers and needed help getting his material into book form.

Also, like many authors he had no idea what he wanted on the cover, or as a title, so he left that to BriarsBooks, who edited and reorganised the MS, created covers and inside layouts and organised proofs and printing.

David's first book of 200 copies Time for a New House argued that the church was not up to what God wanted to do with it and needed radical changes.

He followed this up several years later with another book, Revival and Reformation is Coming New Zealand, making the case more strongly. 100 copies. David is moving these on using his own networks.

Self-publishing was ideal for David. No searching for a publisher, no contracts, fast through-put and future, easy local print-on-demand options.
